Amigami Party @ Wheeling Moose Feb. 9th!

We’ve been hard at work designing a multitude of awesome Spring fashions for our jewelry line, and sales and interest is booming!  I will be working over the next 2 weeks to take pictures and add them to the Amigami Jewelry Gallery, as well as my Etsy shop.

And you can soon have your chance to peruse the entire array of Amigami items.  The Wheeling Moose Lodge will soon be hosting an Amigami Party!  Come visit the local Moose lodge and shop our wide selection of fashion accessories and home accents first hand, and maybe stay for a drink and good times.  You’ll find great gifts for Valentine’s Day, and support local artists.

Over 1 TON of Alpaca Fiber For Online Auction – Ends Thursday!

Local Frio Auction Service recently acquisitioned over one ton of various grades and color of alpaca fleece due to the closure of a regional fiber mill.  Over the last few weeks, my partner and I have been helping Frio Auction Service in sorting and cataloging this fleece to prepare it for auction.  Online bidding has already started, and if you would like to check out the lots or place a bid, please click here. The online auction will be complemented by a live auction taking place at 5 pm Thursday on 16th St. in downtown Wheeling.  All of the lots already have bids, and this may be the first exclusively fiber auction ever (or at least for this region), so make sure to check it out!

License Plate Art by Local Artisan Sneaky Pete

Amigami is proud to present an awesome line of home décor designed by local artisan ‘Sneaky Pete.’   These decorative trays are crafted from authentic state license plates, which are folded and shaped into incredibly durable pieces of functional art that will last a lifetime.  These plates used have all been obtained legally (of course) and feature a myriad of designs, including Florida’s Miami Dolphins’ motif and West Virginia’s Purple Heart commemorative design.  These trays stand at 2.5 inches tall and all measure around 5.75″ x 4.75,” and feature a strong & stable structure capable of handling anything – from candy to spare screws, or even ashes!

Completely one-of-a-kind, these trays are a great addition to any auto-themed décor, or as the perfect gift for your favorite gear head.  Visit the Amigami Etsy store to purchase yours while they last!

Local News Visits Rancho Chico Alpacas

After all of the attention the alpaca ambassadors received at the Wheeling Moose Steak Fry, local news station WTRF visited Rancho Chico to do a story on the whole ranch!  Newswoman Leigh Ann Towne was fascinated by the alpacas at the steak fry, and was overjoyed by the idea of covering the ranch in her Everybody Has a Story segment on the nightly news.  I’m glad to have helped set up this interview, and I hope everyone involved had a fun time during filming (despite the heat).

Patchwork Purses Handmade by Autumn

Amigami is proud to present a new line of brilliant patchwork purses, handmade by local artist Autumn Bender!  These totes are the ultimate in shabby chic, featuring colorful patterns and an over-sized design that makes them a truly one-of-a-kind fashion statement.  Designed and sewn by Autumn, these bags are completely eco-friendly — constructed from 100% re-purposed fabric.

The first available is a large satchel made primarily of warm-toned upholstery fabric, with a soft blue contrasting daisy-inspired liner and five gorgeous floral accents.  I adore the color scheme — the beige & rusty tones of the bag’s body makes the floral design pop off the canvas, bringing the whole purse together.

The second has become known as the “Green Apple” purse,  and is constructed from (you guessed it!) the upper portion of a pair of grass green corduroy pants. This bag retains its original belt loops, four fully functioning pockets, and even an additional zipper pocket for the fly!  But what really makes this bag special is the pair of patchwork apple trees which really add a whimsical flair to the purse’s overall design.  Lined by royal purple paisleys, and finished with sandstone-colored dual straps, this bag is a total eye-catcher.

With their large size and durability, either of these bags would be perfect for travel, a day at the pool or beach, or even everyday living.  Both of these purses are currently for sale in my Etsy shop, and Autumn is hard at work, so keep watching for more one-of-a-kind designs!

Remembering Senator Robert C. Byrd

R.I.P. 1917 - 2010

West Virginia takes a statewide pause today to commemorate the passing of our greatest advocate.  Senator Byrd dedicated his career and life towards making this great state a  better place for each and every citizen.  For 52 years he fought for us — my mother’s whole life (not to mention my own).  Both economically and socially, he always ensured West Virginia would not be forgotten.  Senator Byrd was loved by all West Virginians, regardless of status or standpoint.  His passing leaves a great void in the soul of this state, but his memory will live on for generations, in the hearts & minds of all those whose lives his good works touched. My condolences to the entire Byrd family — my heart goes out to you as I know his went out to all of us.
