New Amigami Hat Designs – Keep Your Head Warm!

Amigami has been hard at work creating the 2011 Winter-Spring line, which includes several new hat designs to keep you warm on those cold spring mornings.

This pink & black striped hat is made of durable, machine-friendly acrylic, and features an oversized slouchy design and thick black ribbed brim.  The differing stripe widths and contrasting colors really make this beanie pop, and it is truly a wonderful addition to almost any winter wardrobe.  This hat is currently available for sale in our Etsy shop, and of course, I am always open to custom color and size requests.

This second hat made of ultra soft & warm alpaca, harvested personally from local alpacas by my partner.  This hat features black & blue stripes arranged in alternating clusters which allow the wearer’s head to breathe.  Although this specific hat has already been purchased, more will soon be available – contact me to place a custom color order.

Hand Blown Glass Paperweights by Local Artisan Taylor Kelly

Amigami is proud to present an awesome line of home décor handcrafted by local artisan Taylor Kelly. These decorative glass paperweights are hand blown, and feature bursts of color and an attention to detail that make them a beautiful addition to any home or office.  These spheres feature a myriad of gorgeous designs, and each measure approximately 3″ in diameter.  Weighing over a pound each, and with a flattened base for added stability, these glass orbs are a beautiful and functional piece of tabletop art.  Completely one-of-a-kind, these glass paperweights are currently for sale in the Amigami Etsy Shop.

Fuse Crater Ball

Tomoko Fuse is one of the most prolific contemporary origami artists, whose modular assemblies are truly out of this world.  This is my first attempt at a Fuse assembly, an icosahedron made using Fuse’s classic 30 degree module.  It was completed using 30 four inch squares of heavyweight cardstock, and measures about 4.5 inches in diameter.  I love the geometric designs and “craters” the modules form as they are assembled – there are pentagons, stars, triangles and hexagons nestled throughout the sphere.  The weight of the cardstock made assembling this model somewhat cumbersome – in the future I will make it using a thinner base material.  This Fuse “Crater” Ball is a novel new edition to the Amigami line-up (as well as to any home or office!)

Swallowtail Butterfly Knot Charms Now Available!

These butterfly charms have become my instant new favorite, as I’m sure they will be yours.

Butterflies are recognized the world over as symbols of joy, life & love. These beautiful butterflies are knotted in the Chinese tradition, with a central Mystic Knot. Otherwise known as the Pan Chang, this knot dates back thousands of years in Asian culture, and is considered one of the eight Buddhist treasures. An extremely auspicious symbol, the Mystic Knot is said to bring happiness both to the wearer, as well as all who view it.

The wings of the butterfly are interwoven with Josephine Knots (or Carrick Bends), a well-recognized Celtic knot representing true love. The tails of the butterfly feature an additional Josephine Knot, along with Chinese Button Knots and metallic accent beads.

Measuring about 3 inches long, and made out of a single strand of 2mm satin cord in a gorgeous redwood brown, this swallowtail charm is the perfect centerpiece for any necklace!

And lucky, I just happen to have matching necklaces!  Made of high quality complementary satin cord, these clasp-free necklaces are completely adjustable, making them great for all ages. Just pull on the necklace to open (don’t worry, it’s sturdy!), then pull the central knot apart to re-close.  The center of the necklace can be looped through most charms or pendants for an instant new look, making this necklace the ultimate in versatility.

Both of these great items are currently for sale in my Etsy shop, and they have already become a high-demand item locally.  They’re absolutely gorgeous and ornate, and look fabulous on women of all ages, so make sure to pick one up today!  And remember, I can always fulfill custom color requests, just ask!

Amigami Summer Catalog

After several sleepless nights, the Amigami Summer Catalog is now available!  This catalog features all the great products I have for sale, as well as work of local artists.  I am now in the process of sending it far & wide, a kind of guerrilla distribution.

You can have your own copy or help spread the word today!  When working with the PDF, print only the odd pages first, then flip the finished pages and print the even.  Then simply fold the pages in half & staple.

Rock N’ Roll-igami, Part Tres

Throughout the weeks, I’ve been continuing my Rock N’ Roll-igami series of modular art, with gorgeous results.

Thanks to booklet donations, I’ve been able to complete several dynamic classic rock pieces, featuring some of the most iconic performers of the late 20th century.

Of course, all of these pieces are available for sale in my Etsy shop.  Some of the new models include:

Greatest Hits Cube, including Aerosmith, John Mellencamp and Kansas

Smashing Pumpkins Orb (Icosahedron), featuring albums Pisces Iscariot, Mellon Collie and Adore

Modular Cube featuring mid 90s Rock: Bush, REM and the Red Hot Chili Peppers

Icosahedron featuring Santana, Jimmy Buffett and the Jimi Hendrix Experience

One Hit Wonder Cube, including Oleander, Marcy Playground, Loko Phylum, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Harvey Danger and 3 Doors Down

Amigami is always looking for more CD booklet donations! I will make a custom piece for each person who donates, and am willing to negotiate payment for larger contributions.

Please contact me via the comments form or the ‘Contact’ tab at the top if you would like to contribute to the Roll N’ Roll-igami series.
